Description
Diving and other water sports are some of the reasons why people run off to Boracay in the Philippines. It's really an interesting opportunity where one can enjoy the beach and the beautiful coast and then plunge right into another world of utter color. Calypso Villas or otherwise known as Calypso Resort provides both the pristine beach and the thrill of diving.
Now, you don't have to be a true blue diver, the five star dive center will accommodate divers of any skill level, even beginners who have never seen scuba gear all their lives. The dive center hosts diving classes, fun dives, and dive safaris using their state of the art on site facilities.
The resort itself is ripped from the pages of Greek mythology; well that's where the name "Calypso" comes from. In Homer's classic work – The Odyssey – Calypso is an astoundingly gorgeous nymph who captures the hero of the story, Odysseus or otherwise known as Ulysses. Calypso's island is just as beautiful as the daughter of the titan who bears the same name.
Long story short, as Odysseus can't leave the fabled beauty and her island, being captured by her charms, the hero had to will himself to leave. That is the same feeling you get out of Calypso Resort. The stunning view of the ocean providing a rather peaceful backdrop to the pool, poolside bar, and restaurant provide a serene view that will make you wish you didn't have to leave.
Facilities
The facilities here can make one's stay even more comfortable and ideal. There's a mini gym for those who love to pump some iron, a massage area, beach beds with umbrellas, WiFi Internet, and a back up generator that guarantees electricity 24 hours a day. Their services include transfers, laundry services, and child care. Given all these services, facilities, and more, Calypso Resort truly deserves its three stars.
Rooms in Calypso Villas
To add a bit of a twist to the overall experience you get, the rooms are African fashioned and the decor is pretty modern. This is a rather interesting combination in room design and choice of furnishings, which might give some people a few pointers on how to redecorate their homes.
The room features include a mini bar, cable TV, air conditioning, safety deposit box, a good view of the garden, and hot and cold showers. There are three types of rooms offered in Calypso Resort, which are Standard, Deluxe, and Deluxe King Suite. All these room types have all the basic amenities mentioned but expect the suite to have better facilities.
The rates here start Php 3,200 during the off season but can easily jump up to Php 4,800 during the high season. Expect the room rates to jack up to Php 7,900 during peak season, which is from January to May (months leading to and entering the Philippine summer). These rates may seem a bit pricey but you truly get a lot of value for your money from the perks this resort provides.
