Lean Season in Boracay

The Boracay lean season starts at the end of the summer around May. This goes on until October when the peak season starts.
During peak season the wind blows eastward, away from White Beach. During the lean or low season, it is the other way around. This brings rain in the afternoon and evenings.
In some cases, there will be strong thunderstorms. In spite of the unpredictable weather, some people actually prefer to go to the island during this period. There are several reasons for this.
Peace and Quiet
One reason is that it is peaceful. When people go to the island, it is suppose to be for a vacation. They want to rest, relax and get away from it all. They want to get back to nature.
That can be very difficult to do during the peak season; the beach is crowded. It can also be noisy. Although some beaches are deserted, the popular beaches are filled to the brim.
During the Boracay lean season, this is possible. You can visit the many natural attractions on the island at your leisure. You can take leisurely walks and relax. There is no loud music or the sound of people chattering nonstop. Granted, it may rain occasionally, but some people actually enjoy walking in the rain.
Things to Do
Some of the most popular water sports activities cannot be performed during the lean season. But if you are not into wind surfing, parasailing or other water sports, it will not matter. You can sill visit the stores, parks and other attractions on the island.
Hotel Amenities and Accommodations
During the low season, the rates for resorts and hotels can be cheaper by a thousand pesos or more. Because of the season, you can also expect the resorts to offer special packages as well. This may include extra breakfast, use of other hotel amenities and many more.
Hassle Free
Unlike the high and peak seasons, there is no need to hurry when booking. You can take your time choosing from the many packages available. Making it even more convenient is the fact that many allow bookings online. This will save you time and money.
If you are the type who is looking forward to fun on the beach, parties and visiting clubs, the Boracay lean season is not for you. But for those who want affordable room rates and some peace and quiet, this may be the right time to visit the island.

  1. Jane from United Kingdom, August 23, 2012 at 12:59 PM On arrival we were upagrded to a delightful suite, which had a pretty balcony overlooking the pool and the Garda Lake. We had booked for two nights, including our Silver Wedding anniversary, but we liked it so much that we stayed an extra night. Afternoon tea, served at the poolside, was an unexpected pleasure.
