There is a Boracay golf course available for those who want to play the game while on the island. It is known as the the Fairways & Bluewater Golf Resort. This goes to show once again, that there is more to the island than just its stunning white sand beaches.
The Fairways & Bluewater Golf Resort is located at Brgy. Balabag, Newcoast in Boracay. The course is 15 minutes away by boat if emanating from the Caticlan port. From there you can ride a trike and go to the course.
What to See
The course is world class. Apart from the lush greens, the course has a stunning view of the landscape and the sea around it. Many prefer to play there during the morning just as the sun makes it way up the horizon.
Playing in the afternoons at the Boracay golf course is also a treat. You will see the sky paint the course in vivid scarlet and orange hues.
The course was designed by Graham Marsh. The course was inaugurated in 1995 and was created to blend in with the environment. The 6524 yard, 18 hole course is a par 72. It is open all year round. The clubhouse is situated on 6,000 sq m hills.
There are over 100 units where people can stay in. As its popularity spread, numerous establishments were set up to accommodate their needs. There are now bars and restaurants at the western side. The eastern area is more quiet and secluded.
The cost ranges from 60 to 70 USD. This charge will inlcude the caddy and the power cart.
The regulations state that the caddy and cart are required always. Proper dress code is needed. Cutoffs, sleeveless shirts and denims are not allowed.
Golf looks easy, but it is not. If you are new to the game, take your time and learn the basics first. In due time, your skills will improve. And do not forget that you are here to enjoy. Take the time to appreciate the scenery as well. It is too easy to get caught up in the game and lose track of everything else.
The Boracay golf course is ideal for those who still want to relax and enjoy their stay at the island. But make no mistake about it; the course can also be used by golfers who want to hone or keep their skills sharp.
